So I've officially started training for my new job at Blue Smoke Jazz Standard. It's going to kick my ass for a while, but I think once I get the rhythm of the place under my skin it'll be great. I also think that the income will be incredible.
Three things every New York woman is in search of:
a good job
a good apartment
a good man
For those of you who might be confused about who Izze is, here's the deal. My sister's name is Shannon Elizabeth. Yes, just like the very bad actress of "American Pie" fame. I have always called her Shannon. When she grew up and decided to move to NY and then LA to be an actress, she decided she wanted to go by her middle name, Elizabeth. Hence the shortened version: Izze. And for more confusion, Kyleen started calling her Shanibeth, probably because I can't not call her Shannon, and everyone else calls her Elizabeth. We are an odd family.
I'm free... for now...
So I work basically next to the the Late Show with Dave Letterman. Every Wednesday afternoon during or after the matinée of Sunday... we wander outside onto 53rd street and see tons of people waiting around the stage door of Letterman for various reasons. Last week (or the week before) I ran into Regis as he was leaving. Another time it was a rapper I didn't know. Today I go out there, and they have set up a Slip n' Slide on the sidewalk. Hmmmmmm...... Someone's going to get hurt... I guess they forgot to read the instructions where it says "Intended for use on the grass." Can't wait to wander out in a few minutes and see what's going on now!
If I ever leave this world alive
This is Proof weekend. Opening night was Friday and we opened to an unbelievably full house. I think we had more people at that one performance then we did at all of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. The audiences yesterday were sparse, but still really responsive and great. Today's will be small, but the closing show, Monday night will be big and joyful I suspect.
