I miss Z.  I wonder if this is what it's like to lose a lover.

The New Job and other stuff

So I've officially started training for my new job at Blue Smoke Jazz Standard.  It's going to kick my ass for a while, but I think once I get the rhythm of the place under my skin it'll be great.  I also think that the income will be incredible.

Other then that, I'm tired.  I always get a little drained when big changes happen in my life.  But, I'm taking care of myself, getting sleep, not setting an alarm, taking the appropriate drugs, and generally hanging in there.  Occasionally I'll wish that I lived closer to Paul, so that it wasn't such an effort to see him in the midst of everything else.  (Not that it is ever truly an effort, per se, just a slight inconvenience when trying to maximize time.) I have a doctor's appointment Friday, at which I'll make sure that everything else with me is going ok.

Things with Paul are going well.  I love spending time with him, there is never enough time.  I sometimes question how he feels, mainly because at the beginning he was very very verbal about his feelings, and has been less so.  I wonder if something has changed, or if i've done something.  But, I keep in my mind that he was adamant about talking when  things weren't right, and so i trust that he will talk to me if something isn't right.  In the end, we are still getting to know one another, and I am in no position to suppose something is going on with him.

Jim is headed out of town this week.  I hate it when  he goes away.  My dear dear friend...

I am currently working on two Red Door Projects:  The Witches and a concert of L5Y.  The Witches will be performed October 18th and 19th at the Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City.  If L5Y happens it will be in February for one night only.  Kind of excited about both...  and it keeps me from stressing out about auditions and other industry bullshit.

Anyway, that's me.  New job, new theatre projects, major boy distraction...  nothing new, really. ;-)

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to the absolute love of my life. She will always be there for me, and I will always love her.

Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald. Born July 24, 1900.

As Carrie Bradshaw once said:

Three things every New York woman is in search of:
a good job
a good apartment
a good man

It is a very careful balance to have all three. Usually we have one or two and are on a constant search for the elusive third. Well friends, I have two at the moment: a brand spankin' new job at a fantabulous restaurant (where they do things like, care about their employees...), and an amazing man (whom I can't possibly tell just how I feel about him-i keep trying, but the words get stuck). Currently, this issue, though getting smaller by the day, is my living sitch.

I love Kyleen. I LOVE HER. One of my other roommates (there are four of us all together) is driving me up a wall. She didn't want me to move in in the first place. She's been holding a ridiculous grudge for two years because I complemented a cake she made and she thought I was making fun of it. (I really was complementing it - it was an ingenious design.) And now, because I happen to have an air conditioner in my bedroom - though I don't even sleep there half the week - wants me to pay 25% more on what I already pay for our exhorbinant (I know it's spelled wrong, I can't find it in spell check) energy bill. ARGH!

So, basically, we have three refrigerators, a washer/dryer, and a living room ac unit and I'm the one who has to pay more then everyone else. I'm frustrated. I'm also turning the living room ac way down to cool my room, so In don't have to turn my ac on and incur a higher bill.... so there!

Oh and PS. I'm in love... shhh.... don't tell anyone.

Izze's Here!

For those of you who might be confused about who Izze is, here's the deal. My sister's name is Shannon Elizabeth. Yes, just like the very bad actress of "American Pie" fame. I have always called her Shannon. When she grew up and decided to move to NY and then LA to be an actress, she decided she wanted to go by her middle name, Elizabeth. Hence the shortened version: Izze. And for more confusion, Kyleen started calling her Shanibeth, probably because I can't not call her Shannon, and everyone else calls her Elizabeth. We are an odd family.

Anyway, it's way to early in the morning. But Izze's flight just got her here to Astoria, and now she's home, sleeping on the couch. Don''t know what we're gonna do but, something fun is in the works.

I'm free... for now...

Both shows I was working for or in are closed, the only job I have at the moment is the Bistro, and my only other obligation is The Barrow Group.

So, what to do with my summer? I'm headed to LA at the end of the month, only to drive back to New York with my sister, Izze. There will be a stop in Nashville for some good old fashioned trouble, but other then that I have no real vacation plans. Thinking ( alot) about going to the beach in September.

anyway... more on this later!

I'm as corny as Kansas in August?

Dave in his swimming trunks?

So I work basically next to the the Late Show with Dave Letterman. Every Wednesday afternoon during or after the matinée of Sunday... we wander outside onto 53rd street and see tons of people waiting around the stage door of Letterman for various reasons. Last week (or the week before) I ran into Regis as he was leaving. Another time it was a rapper I didn't know. Today I go out there, and they have set up a Slip n' Slide on the sidewalk. Hmmmmmm...... Someone's going to get hurt... I guess they forgot to read the instructions where it says "Intended for use on the grass." Can't wait to wander out in a few minutes and see what's going on now!

If I ever leave this world alive
I'll thank for all the things you did in my life
If I ever leave this world alive
I'll come back down and sit beside your
feet tonight
Wherever I am you'll always be
More than just a memory
If I ever leave this world alive

If I ever leave this world alive
I'll take on all the sadness
That I left behind
If I ever leave this world alive
The madness that you feel will soon subside
So in a word don't shed a tear
I'll be here when it all gets weird
If I ever leave this world alive

So when in doubt just call my name
Just before you go insane
If I ever leave this world
Hey I may never leave this world
But if I ever leave this world alive

She says I'm okay; I'm alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right

She says I'm okay; I'm alright,
Though you have gone from my life
You said that it would,
Now everything should be all right
Yeah should be alright

I love Kyleen.

That is all.

Proof

This is Proof weekend. Opening night was Friday and we opened to an unbelievably full house. I think we had more people at that one performance then we did at all of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea. The audiences yesterday were sparse, but still really responsive and great. Today's will be small, but the closing show, Monday night will be big and joyful I suspect.

This has been the most successful Red Door Project yet. I will need to spend the next few months evaluating why that was, although I have a few ideas. Spent some time chatting with Chris about the future of the company and he had some great advice. There is some more long term planning to be done. We will be building a Board of Directors in the next few months as well. We are at the point that Kyleen, Izze and I can't do this on our own without it being our jobs. (Wouldn't that be nice.)

Anyway. So thrilled to be able to play the role. Excited that everything came together.

Thank you to everyone who came out to play with me on this one.

Is it crazy that one of the highlights of my day is finding out that Ben finally joined Facebook?!

This is "best friend Ben" who's been out of town for nearly a year. He'll be back soon, and then there won't be any good reason why we don't see each other! ;-)
